Safe quad riding begins with a pace suited to visibility, the surface and the driver's experience. Gravel, mud and blind bends require more time and space than dry tarmac. Zagorje Rent rides are self-guided, so every driver should understand the agreed route, spacing and what to do if the group becomes separated before setting off.
This guide helps you prepare for the ride. The instructions given at handover take priority because they apply to the specific quad, conditions and agreed route.
One rule for the whole ride
Ride at a speed that lets you stop within the part of the route you can clearly see. If you cannot judge what is beyond a bend, dip or patch of dense vegetation, slow down before you reach it.
The gap is not empty space to close
Stopping distance changes on gravel, grass and forest roads. Dust can reduce visibility, while loose stones or mud can move the quad off line. Leave enough room for the rider ahead to slow without forcing the whole group into a sudden reaction.
Do not try to maintain exactly the same gap in every section. Increase it when the surface is slippery or visibility is poor. If you lose sight of the group, do not accelerate blindly. Slow down and follow the plan agreed before departure.
Bends, climbs and descents
Enter a bend more slowly than you think you need to, then add power only when you can see the exit. Keep the throttle steady on a climb. On a descent, control your speed early and avoid sudden braking, especially on loose ground.
Riding in a group
- Do not overtake without a clear agreement.
- Follow the agreed route and stopping points.
- Check where the other riders are before changing direction.
- Do not stop immediately after a blind bend.
- Report a problem when you first notice it.
Respect the terrain and other people
A quad does not give access to every forest road, farm track, private access road or field. Ride only on the confirmed route, and follow traffic rules and access restrictions. Slow down near homes, walkers, cyclists and animals, and leave plenty of room.
Avoid deliberate skidding, digging into the surface or leaving the track. Apart from increasing risk, this damages the terrain and creates problems for the people who live or work nearby.

Stop in a safe place, switch off the quad if necessary and contact Zagorje Rent. Do not attempt a recovery if you are unsure what to do. Use the winch only as explained at handover.
